A Jack Wisniewski goal earned a point against Rushden & Higham United
Thrapston remain unbeaten since the Boxing Day defeat to Champions elect Peterborough Sports but should have put this game to bed rather than allow Rushden & Higham to gain a point with a late equaliser.
The ball spent much of the time in midfield but when a tremendous Lloyd Buckby pass bounced through to Jack Wisniewski the visiting keeper claimed the ball first on this occasion. Home pressure continued when Wisniewski passed two defenders to rattle low against the near post from the edge of the box. Dodzi Agbenu maintained mazy runs which conspired to tire The Lakies defence. In the 35th minute, a wonderful Buckby cross set up Wisniewski to volley home in front of the rushing keeper to give Thrapston the lead.
The second half continued in the same manner as Thrpaston looked more threatening with Cory James going close. The game changed with the arrival of Higham substitute Daryl Lawman who within ten mintes, and with five remaining, planted a perfect left foot free kick into the top corner of the net to ensure points were shared. Thrapston’s fourth draw of the past five games.
